Foyers in the typical Moroccan home are large and welcoming. Artwork that is small and intricately engraved is often used on entrance doorways, and the Moroccan furniture includes wrought iron and wood. The pieces are set low to the ground and are very comfortable and inviting. You can arrange tables and lounges, as well as couches, stools, and other pieces.
Lighting. Lighting will be an important part of the design of your older home, especially if you are decorating a very old house. Lighting fixtures in really old houses were few and far between, as are electrical outlets. If the home you are about to decorate does not already have upgraded lighting, you may want to put this at the top of your list of things to do. The ambience and atmosphere of your home is in many ways determined by the types of lighting you choose and how that lighting illuminates the rooms.
Do not get discouraged if you cannot use Moroccan home decor in every room of your home right away. Moroccan furniture can be somewhat expensive, however when the quality and appearance are considered the cost is extremely reasonable. Start small by adding one or two pieces of Moroccan furniture or decorative accessories at a time, so that you do not go over budget and your home starts to benefit from the Moroccan home decor items that you can afford. Over time you will start to build up quite a collection, and your home will start to resemble those found in Morocco when it comes to luxury, beauty, and comfort.
